Advanced Supported Employment
Includes:
- Discovery Portfolio/Career Planning: Comprehensive,
targeted analysis of client’s
strengths, skills, interests and conditions
for success in preparation to pursue
competitive integrated employment. - Job Acquisition: Matching an
employer’s needs with the client’s
assessed skills, strengths, needs and
interests - Job Retention: Intensive job coaching
and support to assist the client in
stabilizing a job.
Supported Employment
Includes:
- Career Assessment: Service used to identify career options
based on the skills and interest of
the participant. - Job Finding or Development:
Variety of activities and services to
match the client with a potential employer. - Job Coaching and Support:
Training the client on specific job assignments and providing
periodic or ongoing support as
needed.
Small Group Employment
Includeds:
- Mobile Work Force: Teams of
clients, supervised by a
training/job supervisor, working
away from an agency or facility
(i.e. maintenance, lawn care, etc.) - Work Station in Industry:
Individual or group training of
clients at an industry site. - Affirmative Industry: A business
that sells products or services and
at least 51% of the employees do
not have a disability. - Enclave: Clients with a
disability are employed in a
business or industry alongside
those without a disability. - Transportation, if it is an integral
component of the service; i.e. to
the worksite.

such as Supplemental Security
Income (SSI) and Social Security

I have an ID/A or Base Funded Waiver. What is the process to begin our employment services?
Step 1: Consultation with Hire Right Solutions
- Timeline: 1–2 Weeks
- What Happens:
- The Support Coordinator consults with an Employment Specialist from Hire Right Solutions.
- Together, they review the individual’s goals, needs, and current supports.
- Recommendations for employment services are drafted for presentation to the ISP team.
Step 2: ISP Team Meeting
- Timeline: 2–4 Weeks
- What Happens:
- The Support Coordinator schedules a meeting with the ISP team to review recommendations and determine the duration of employment services needed for the remainder of the ISP year.
- Discussions will focus on a person-centered approach, ensuring that the individual’s preferences and goals are prioritized.
Factors Influencing Timing:
- Availability of ISP team members.
- Complexity of the individual’s needs and desired outcomes.
Step 3: Updating the ISP
- Timeline: 1–2 Weeks
- What Happens:
- The Support Coordinator updates the ISP to reflect the agreed-upon duration and specifics of the employment services.
- The updated ISP is submitted to the Administrative Entity (AE) for review and approval.
Note: Any adjustments requested by the AE may require additional revisions.
Step 4: AE Approval
- Timeline: 1–2 Weeks
- What Happens:
- The AE reviews and approves the updated ISP.
- Once approved, services can officially begin.

- AE review workload and processing times.
Step 5: Initiation of Employment Services
- Timeline: Immediately Following AE Approval
- What Happens:
- An Employment Specialist from Hire Right Solutions begins working with the individual.
- A person-centered Individualized Employment Plan (IEP) is developed, detailing next steps and actionable goals.
Total Estimated Timeline
- 30–60 Days, depending on:
- Availability of ISP team members.
- Timeliness of AE approval process.
Key Points to Ensure Efficiency
Follow-Up: The Support Coordinator monitors progress and ensures prompt AE submission and approval.
Proactive Scheduling: The Support Coordinator should prioritize scheduling the ISP meeting as soon as possible.
Collaborative Approach: Active communication between the Support Coordinator, Hire Right Solutions, and the ISP team ensures alignment.

Step 1: Initial Assessment
Timeline: 1–2 Weeks
- What Happens:
- We begin by reviewing your skills, experiences, and career goals.
- If applicable, we assess eligibility for services like the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and determine if you need an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
Factors Impacting Time:
- Completion of forms and required documents.
- Scheduling your intake appointment.
Step 2: Skill Development and Support Preparation
Timeline: 2–6 Weeks
- What Happens:
- Tailored support may include resume building, interview training, and identifying any required skill upgrades (e.g., certifications).
- For those requiring accommodations, we guide you on securing these resources.
- If referred to OVR, your case must be reviewed before proceeding.
Factors Impacting Time:
- Complexity of skill upgrades or accommodations.
- External agency response times (if applicable).
Step 3: Job Matching and Application Process
Timeline: 4–8 Weeks
- What Happens:
- We connect you with employers who align with your skills and career goals.
- Assistance with applications, tailoring cover letters, and preparing for interviews.
- Explore options such as part-time work, self-employment, or federal employment.
Factors Impacting Time:
- Industry demand for your desired role.
- How quickly you engage with the application process.
Step 4: Interviewing and Placement
Timeline: 2–8 Weeks
- What Happens:
- Support during interviews and employer negotiations.
- Guidance on any trial work periods, if applicable.
- Assistance in onboarding once employment is secured.
Factors Impacting Time:
- Employer hiring timelines.
- Number of roles you apply to and interview for.
Step 5: Follow-Up and Continued Support
Timeline: Ongoing
- What Happens:
- Post-employment support to address any challenges and ensure job retention.
- Help navigating potential career growth opportunities.
Factors Affecting Overall Timeline
- Market Conditions: Availability of jobs in your preferred industry or region.
- Your Goals: Flexibility regarding job type, hours, or location can shorten the timeline.
- External Processes: Timelines with agencies like OVR or government employment programs.
- Readiness: Your commitment to preparation and engagement throughout the process.
Estimated Timeline
- Fast Track: 2–3 months (if job-ready and in high-demand fields).
- Average Timeline: 4–6 months (including skill-building and OVR processes).
- Extended Timeline: 6+ months (if significant skill development or external referrals are needed).

What service is best for me?
To determine what services best fit your needs. Please take into consideration-
Advanced Supported Employment:
o You are interested in competitive integrated employment (including self-employment)
o You have never had job skills training or
development; or
o you have never had any work
experience; or
o you have used Supported Employment
services and were unable to secure a
job or keep a job for more than 6
months.
AND
Meet one for the following criteria:
o Is currently in an activity
receiving sub-minimum wage;
or
o After consulting with Hire Right Solutions, it is the
opinion of the Individual
Support Plan team that the
level of support provided
through this service is needed
to secure sustained
competitive integrated
employment. Supported Employment: You are interested in competitive
integrated employment (including
self-employment) who may or may
not have work experience; or
You are currently
employed but need extended
supports to maintain their current
job; or
You are currently
employed but are interested in
finding a new job.
Small Group Employment:
You need to gain work
skills to achieve competitive
integrated employment and are
interested in and would benefit
from experience in a mobile work
force, a work station in industry,
affirmative industry or enclave to
learn those skills.
Benefits Counseling:
You are considering or
seeking competitive integrated
employment, currently employed,
or interested in career
advancement and who need
more information about how
working impacts benefits
programs.
Am I Eligible?
You are eligible is you have one of the below diagnoses.
Intellectual Disability (ID):
- Full-scale IQ of ~70 or below (two standard deviations below the mean).
- Significant limitations in maturation, learning, independence, or social responsibility.
- Substantial deficits in at least three major life areas (e.g., self-care, communication, learning, mobility, independence) based on standardized testing (two areas for base services).
Autism:
Substantial deficits in three or more major life areas as assessed through standardized testing.
Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is required (ID may also be present).
Significant limitations in standards of maturation, learning, independence, or social responsibility.
